Massage Therapist

I began my studies in 1995 at the California Institute of Massage and Spa Services. My practice combines the modalities of Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, reflexology, thereapeutic stretches, and Jin Shin Jyutsu. Sessions are designed to promote deep relaxation and body restructuring in order to provide ease of movement and long lasting pain relief. Specialties include stress reduction, pregnancy massage, and head, neck and shoulder projects.

Cairyl Gardner is a Certified Massage Therapist who brings an attentive touch with healing intention.

Cairyl has been practicing massage since 2001, and has training in many modalities including Swedish, Shiatsu, Neuromuscular Therapy, Advanced Therapeutic Training, Cranio-Sacral, Energy and Aquatic Massage (Watsu).

I graduated from Western Institute of Science and Health (WISH), in 2002. My studies covered Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Shiatsu, Injury Rehab, Sports and Work Related Chronic Stress Maintenance, and Lymphatic Drainage. I combine all of these techniques to provide a personalized session performing to your specific needs.

I have been a practicing Massage Therapist since 1998. The objective of my work is to tailor a massage to my clients needs. I combine intuition with technical knowledge to bring balance to the body. The modalities I incorporate into the massage are : Swedish, Shiatsu, Reiki, Reflexology, Lomi Lomi, Pregnancy and Deep Tissue. My interests in Acupuncture and Acupressure has led my awareness to the underlying meridian structure. I attended the New Age School of Massage in Sebastopol in 1983. In 1984 I obtained my B.A. in Psychology from Sonoma State University, which has helped with my massage practice. In 1985 I studied Sports Massage with John Harris and Rich Phaigh, who worked at the Nike Training Center in Oregon. I consider myself a Sports Massage Therapist and love working with injuries. I especially enjoy working on the back, neck and shoulders.

In 1976, I studied Shiatsu, then met and trained with Dr. Milton Trager. I have been a Trager practicioner since 1980. The Trager Approach works the body with rhythmic rocking motions and gentle stretching movements that evoke a sense of relaxation and well being. This work influences my practice, as does my background in sports, dance and Aikido. Since 1992, I am certified to practice Chi Nei Sang, originated by ancient Taoists in China, which focuses on the abdomen, harmonizing and balancing vital internal organs and body systems.

I started my massage career in 1990, while I was finishing my bachelor's degree in Psychology. I was interested in the body-mind connections, which lead me to Massage Therapy. I have worked in many settings, such as, salons, day spas, resort spas, chiropractic offices and health clubs. At Hawaiian Islands School of Body Therapies, I was trained in several techniques: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Sports Massage, Shiatsu, Polarity and Lomi Lomi. Over the years, I have acquired other trainings in Hot Stone Massage, Reiki and Abhyanga.

With skills acquired from over 37 years of experience and credentialed education, as well as instinct, intuition and your requests, I personalize each massage drawing upon vibrational energy, Swedish style, or modified acupressure. You communicate your desired pressure. My training includes the Catherine Hinds School of Esthetics in Massachusetts, Calistoga Massage Therapy School, workshops, fellow therapists and self-study.
